This ballad by the Cavan singer-songwriter, Lisa O’Neill, speaks of the way in which machines are replacing people without improving anyone’s lives. We could be forgiven for thinking that increased mechanization is going to create a new society where technology does all the work and we can enjoy a life of leisure. Sadly, and at the risk of sounding like a Luddite, it seems that machines are going to control us, remove us and we may just become surplus to requirement. Rebel Voice has watched both the Terminator and Stargate so knows how this all pans out. Trust us. It’s all so sad, so sad. Now who was it said that?
