IRA Attack On Downing Street, Invoice Remains Unpaid

This news report is from 1991 and the IRA mortar bomb attack on Downing Street. As the British war cabinet was meeting to discuss the first war for oil in Iraq, they got a shock when mortars landed in the back garden and redesigned the entire space.

This attack demonstrated the capabilities of the much admired militant Republican group and is today still one of the most audacious attacks ever launched upon the seat of British Government.

The Prime Minister of that time, John Major, was so naturally grey that it was impossible to tell just how shocked he was by the attack on his residence. The British government has never responded to the invoice sent by Irish Republicans requesting  immediate payment for the extensive landscaping work that was completed during that time.
