There is much hardship in our world, most of it man-made and therefore avoidable. When images of injured or starving children appear on our screens or monitors, it is understandable that many would wish to turn away. The photos are sickening.
Yet to ignore the truth of what is taking place is to allow it to continue. Readers may ask what can they, as one person do? As an Irish martyr once said, “Everyone… has their own particular role to play. No part is too great or too small; no one is too old or too young to do something”.
If everyone stood in defiance of those who perpetuate the suffering of children, then it would stop. It is our non-engagement that permits the warmongers to continue. Apathy is killing us and none more so than the children of Yemen. That same Irish martyr also stated that, “Our revenge will be the laughter of our children”.
Let’s hope that the children of Yemen begin to laugh soon, very soon.
