After Nicolas Maduro’s resounding victory in the Venezuelan general election, there have been calls from two super-powers for other nations, most notably the US, to respect the results. The calls come as the US has tried to rubbish the election before they took place, and continues to pursue an agenda that would see the Latin American nation plunged into civil war – with US military assistance for the insurgents of course.

Venezuela is rich in oil. The north American Empire craves that substance both in the short and long term. Russia and China are all too aware of the plans of the United States, and so are watching developments in the region very closely. Citizens of the world are looking upon a new Cold War, with the smaller nations being used as pawns in the inevitable move towards global conflict.
