It’s an oldie, having been released in 1967, but the animated telling of The Jungle Book has stood the test of time in the most glorious fashion. Perhaps the best thing about this movie is the music score. There are a number of memorable performances, none more so than that of King Louie as he regales Mowgli with his desire to acquire fire.
King Louis was voiced by Louis Prima, a successful jazz singer. the voice of Baloo was that of Phil Harris, yet another well-known jazz singer. Interestingly, Kaa, the python in the movie, was Sterling Holloway, who was also the voice of Winnie the Pooh in the eponymous Disney movie. Mowgli was played by Bruce Reitherman who was also the voice of Christopher Robin in the 1966 animated adventure, Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.
Here is a look at the song and the cartoon characters who presented it.
