Hurricane Katrina – Shocking Footage

On August 29th, 2005, journalist Mike Theiss was in Gulfport, Mississippi when a massive storm surge hit the coastline during Hurricane Katrina. His Emmy award-winning video really gives viewers some insight into how terrifying the weather conditions were at that time.

As bad as it was in Gulfport, and it was undoubtedly bad, it was much worse in New Orleans where the causalities and fatalities were extensive. It’s hard to fully appreciate the fear that many (especially those of great age, or very young) must have felt as they were left to the mercy of a storm. There was no mercy.

As important as we humans believe ourselves to be, it is both humbling and chastening to witness the raw power of Mother Nature in her anger.
