Into The Wild was a movie released in 2007 to widespread acclaim. It was written, co-produced and directed by Sean Penn and centres around the life of Christopher McCandless, a young man from the USA who became disillusioned with mainstream society and decided to drop out. His subsequent travels touched the lives of many, as he searched for meaning in his life. Sadly, Christopher met a bad end in a final episode of misadventure. His legacy, however, lives on.
Eddie Vedder was tasked with providing the soundtrack for this epic adventure story and there is no one better qualified to create the melodies for the life of a conscientious dreamer than the former front-man of Pearl Jam. Vedder’s album, named for the movie, was released in 2007 and contained 11 tracks. 6 of these beautiful songs are performed in this clip as Vedder demonstrates his skills, and the craftsmanship that has made him recognised as one of the greatest musicians alive today.
Rebel Voice wonders if there can be a greater compliment than to have Eddie Vedder write songs about you. We think not.
