Hyrax are a rodent-looking animal that are more closely related to elephants. They weigh between 2 and 5 kg and live only in Africa and the Middle East. They are mentioned in the bible, being described as not kosher. Eagles don’t care. Eagles don’t do kosher. Eagles love to eat hyrax.
The following video shows how two Verreaux‘s eagles work together to hunt a hyrax. Excuse the phrase, but it’s a game of cat and mouse as the hyrax uses its cunning to try to outwit the birds of prey, whilst the pair of raptors do likewise. Back and forth, to and fro, the battle goes on. It’s death for the hyrax if is gets it wrong. But then again, the eagles need to eat also, so it could be death for them as well. Have a look at what happens and revel in the majesty of our natural world.
