Tyson Fury is an English former world heavyweight boxing champion. He is of Irish Traveller identity which makes him a tough SOB. Within the Traveller culture, men are judged by their no nonsense attitude and ability to take care of business. As a former world champ, Fury is top of the heap.
He is also a man who has suffered from well publicized mental health problems. It’s his erratic behaviour that lends to his media appeal as no one seems to know just what Tyson Fury is going to do or say next. After winning the unified world titles in 2015, Fury was forced to vacate all of them in 2016 due to his issues. He returned to the ring in 2018 where he fought Deontay Wilder for the WBC title. The match was scored a draw, but Wilder as reigning champion retained his title. Fury is currently ranked as second best active heavyweight boxer by The Ring and third best by BoxRec.
In October, 2018, Fury appeared on the popular Joe Rogan chat show where he opened up about his troubled past. It makes for an insightful and honest account of a controversial and talented character.
