Meso-America is the geographical area that encompasses much of modern Mexico and Central America. It was a land where the Zapotecs, Toltecs, Aztecs and Mayans all held sway at one time or another. It is a region of great culture, art and history.
Then the Europeans arrived with their war and diseases. It’s never been the same since. We have a lot to answer for in this part of the world. Today, meso-American culture is being re-embraced and even rediscovered. Movies, such as Apocalypto, serve to remind us of all that has passed there, both good and bad.
The following video looks at this area of special interest for all with a keen eye for other peoples. It’s only an introduction, but may be sufficient to pique your interest in the civilizations that ruled in splendour when much of Europe was in the Dark Ages.
