If any single activity speaks of the tendency of humans to engage in utter lunacy, it must be surfing giant waves. To ride such a monstrous body of water is the preserve of the incredibly brave, adventurous and foolhardy. Yet, surely that is who we are; that is what we are as a species. If we were not this way then we would have have progressed as far as we have. If the dinosaurs had learned to master surfing, then the lazy bastards would not be extinct.
